SIMA IMAGE AWARDS 2011

February 03, 2011 (House of Blues, Anaheim, CA) – A last minute decision to attend the Image Awards was well worth it. Spent a wonderful evening on the red carpet with some good friends while making new ones. I shared the drive up with Renne Catalano, Program Director at San Diego Sports Innovators. Renne was kind enough to introduce me to several prominent SDSI board members and I made some great connections with top industry executives.

The SIMA Image Awards celebrate the top products and brands in the Surf Industry or Action Sports Industry in the broader sense. The awards are traditionally held in Cabo, but for the first time, the show came to the action sports hub of the world; Orange County, California. X-Games host, Sal Masekela, was the M.C. for the evening as he entertained a crowd of over 700.

I was most tuned into the categories that had the surfboards up for awards. I predicted the “Surfboard Model of the Year” accurately however the surprise was Green Foam winning the “Environmental Product of the Year.” I have worked with Joey from Green Foam in the past and it was really cool to see a surfboard shaping material win a category. Check out all the winners!
